How to manage your time better – learn to prioritize your work tasks
Work smarter not harder
Your time is precious and so you are
I guess, we all have been there – Still in our 9 to 5 job trying to build this online empire of ours at the same time plus looking after kids, pets whatever else it might be for you.
When you get home you finish all your household tasks and finally have the time to work on your online business, but you sit down and you have no idea where to start or what to do first.
Your mind is all over the place and let’s be honest so you are.
You feel stressed as you only have 2 hours before you need to go and cook dinner or do homework with kids. So you spend the first half an hour working on your new blog post as that feels right for you to do in your given space of time. Actually, the first half an hour you probably think about what to write about.
You don’t even finish writing your blog content and 2 hours are gone. Time to go back to turn into a household woman and keep dreaming about this business of yours you are trying to create.
Maybe your online business is your full-time job by now, but most of the time you feel like you are not getting things done. Your business is not going anywhere and you feel overwhelmed and anxious on daily basis.
Can you imagine if in your given space of time you have, you would know exactly what you are going to be working on?
The Power of Scheduling
Scheduling your time properly and effectively should play an important part of your entrepreneurial life. If you take your business seriously and you want to build an empire from this hobby of yours start scheduling and planning your days.
Make a list of things you would like to include in your life for instance:
- Working on my business
- The time you want to spend with your family
- Off time
- Weekly shopping
- No phone zone
- Yoga, meditation…
Make sure you know how much time a week or a day you would like to spend on each task and write it down next to it.
Always remember to include self-care routine in your schedule. Looking after yourself should be always a priority number one.
You are the face of your business. Your body is the temple and your energy is everything.
Now it’s time to grab your calendar or go to your online calendar if you are not really a pen and paper girl like me.
Look at next week and put all things you included in your list into your calendar. We all have 7 days every week to make this work so take your time.
Don’t you feel better already knowing how your next week will look like?
I want every day for you to be filled with joy and excitement and I want to make sure you also take your business seriously. Way too often I see people struggling because they don’t realize they keep treating their business as a hobby.
It’s not a hobby.
It’s your future.
It’s your business.
It’s your empire!
Learn to prioritize
I know we all live busy lives, but I also know you so want to create this amazing beautiful business you have been working on for a while. You might have an hour a day or 2 hours a day to work on your business it doesn’t matter.
What matters is how you prioritize your work tasks, so you know exactly what you are going to be working on at your given space of time.
For instance, if you’re creating a new online course:
What is the next thing you need to get done to make you money?
Ask yourself this question every single time, you are working on your business. In this scenario it could be creating a sales funnel, learn more about Facebook ads or figuring out your email provider. Writing a blog post can definitely wait in this case.
Always prioritize tasks which are “urgent”, meaning will bring you money.
After your course is launched that’s the best time to go and write your new blog post, work on your content, get more professional photos done or change your website.
Start planning your weeks ahead!
Be the action taker. There is no room for procrastination.
You are the boss!
If you have a content creation planned for today, but you just don’t feel like to create anything, you are not in a mood, that’s fine. Instead of wasting your time sitting at your desk and not getting anything done and getting mad at yourself swap it with a task from another day.
We are only humans and this way we are at least still getting work done, which keeps us in high energy that we need.
Don’t do this too often though. Try to stick with your actual schedule as much as you can.
Stickability is the key.
When you are in your work mode say no to any distraction, such as checking your phone for notifications, messaging with your friends – flight mode is the way forward or turn your phone off.
Go and get your calendar or if you use an online scheduler and let’s get started.
Let’s create more time and peace for yourself and your family.
You are the boss, but what if you could also become the employee of the month?
Happy planning and scheduling everyone!
